Located outside Seattle here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, we have been designing and building quality marine systems, equipment and components since 1978. As you navigate through our web site, you will see that the products we manufacture generally fall into four “use” categories including Ocean Observation Systems, and On-Deck, In-Water and Seafloor Equipment. The majority of our products are actually custom designed or standard designs modified to meet the specific needs of our customers. Ocean Observation
Systems -
SOSI’s Ocean Observation &
Data Collection Systems include a variety of standard and custom configured
products such as integrated oceanographic data buoys, meteorological data buoys, single
sensor buoys, moorings, and seafloor instrument platforms. Most
buoys can be equipped with the Iridium satellite-based telemetry system.
In-Water Systems - SOSI manufactures underwater equipment including
towed bodies (towfish), depressors, special purpose ROVs, instrument
housings, junction boxes, hydraulic power units, pressure compensators,
leak detectors, time-lapse video recorders, telemetry systems, pressure
actuated switches, GPS antennas, and more. Seafloor Systems - SOSI manufactures passively towed, self-propelled, and stationary seafloor systems including ocean mining collectors, mechanical plows (ploughs), jetting style trenchers, simultaneous and post lay cable embedment machines, test plows, salvage systems, and other custom built systems and equipment. SOSI
products and services are used in a wide variety of marine fields such
as oceanographic and meteorological data gathering, seafloor mapping and survey, underwater cable burial and trenching,
ocean mining and sampling, and deep-water salvage. Government agencies,
academic institutions, and private companies around the world currently
use our products. We provide cost-effective solutions and quality
products and services to every customer and our top priority is to earn
your repeat business. One means to that end is registration to ISO
9001:2000 which we are currently implementing. Port Security - SOSI provides high-tech port security solutions for small and medium sized facilities. These solutions include: integrated tracking, video surveillance suites, sensor concealment and response force operational aids. See our port security page for more details. Manufacturer’s Representative – SOSI has established agreements with several companies that manufacture marine equipment and/or provide related services that are synergistic with the products and services normally provided by SOSI.
