Welcome to Sound Ocean Systems, Inc. (SOSI).  Located outside Seattle here in the Pacific Northwest, we have designed and built quality marine systems, equipment and components since 1978.  As you navigate through our web site, you will see that the products we manufacture generally fall into four “use” categories including Ocean Observation Systems, Deck and In-Water Systems and  Seafloor Systems. The majority of our products are actually custom designed or standard designs modified to meet the specific needs of our customers.  If you don’t see the exact item you need, contact us and we will be happy to help you find the right SOSI product for your requirements. The following is a general introduction to our products.

Ocean Observation Systems - SOSI’s Ocean Observation & Data Collection Systems include a variety of standard and custom configured products such as integrated oceanographic data buoys, meteorological data buoys, single sensor buoys, moorings, and seafloor instrument platforms.  Buoys can be equipped with various forms of communications, data transfers or internal recording 2 way.  

Deck Equipment - SOSI manufactures deck equipment including winches, handling systems, launch & recovery systems, mobile vans & enclosures and other custom designed equipment.

In-Water Systems - SOSI manufactures underwater equipment including towed bodies (towfish), instrument housings, junction boxes, pressure compensators, leak detectors, GPS antennas, and more.

Seafloor Systems - SOSI manufactures passively towed, self-propelled, and stationary seafloor systems including ocean mining collectors, mechanical plows (ploughs), jetting style trenchers, simultaneous and post lay cable embedment machines, test plows, salvage systems, and other custom built systems and equipment.

SOSI products and services are used in a wide variety of marine fields such as oceanographic and meteorological data gathering, seafloor mapping and survey, underwater cable burial and trenching, ocean mining and sampling, and military. Government agencies, academic institutions, and private companies around the world currently use our products. We provide cost-effective solutions and quality products and services to every customer and our top priority is to earn your repeat business. One means to that end is registration to ISO 9001:2000 which we are currently implementing.

Port Security  - SOSI provides high-tech port security solutions for small and medium sized facilities. These solutions include: integrated tracking, video surveillance suites, sensor concealment and response force operational aids.  See our port security page for more details.

Manufacturer’s Representative – SOSI has established agreements with several companies that manufacture marine equipment and/or provide related services that are synergistic with the products and services normally provided by SOSI. We are honored that these companies have put their trust in SOSI and we are pleased to be able to offer their products and services to customers within our assigned territories. We currently represent many companies including:

• The Experimental Design Bureau of Oceanological Engineering (EDBOE) for titanium instrument housings and acoustic releases
• SeaBotix, Inc. for the MiniROV system LBV and revolutionary hybrid ROV/Crawler LBC
• SEVMORGEO for seafloor core drills and cone penetrometers

Beyond the Traditional – SOSI owns and operates CGGE International, LLC, a marketing and management company for the charter and services of Russian Research Ships.
