CGGE

CGGE International (CGGE) has been providing ships for charter, ocean survey equipment and technical services for governments and commercial organizations since 1993. Our parent company, Sound Ocean Systems, Inc. has been in business since 1978, and is involved in custom engineering and manufacturing of marine equipment and support systems.

The principals of CGGE International possess over 20 years of experience in the offshore deep sea exploration industry, with specialties in acoustics, subsea vehicles and offshore operations. In our daily operations, we have access to the design/engineering resources of Sound Ocean System Inc. as well as to scientific/engineer expertise of the National Marine Center of Russia.

We conduct global scale operations with customers and vessels in all parts of the world. Our role is to manage all proposals and contracts negotiations, facilitate communications between the charter party and the technical and ship manager personnel and assure that customer needs are met. In addition, as prime contractor, we take fiscal responsibility to assure that all funds are managed adequately to protect the interests of the customer and to assure timely performance.

Ships

CGGE

Vessels available for charter are of various configurations, designed for survey and geotechnical operations. Several of the vessels are of the same ice-class (104.5M length x 16M), which are shelter-deck trawler designs which were converted for research and survey work. Extremely stable ships, they are built for worldwide operations under severe weather conditions. All personnel, equipment and operations are in full compliance with ISM (International Safety Management) and all international standards (including SOLAS, MARPOL, GMDSS, COLREG-72, ILLC 19966/88, STCW-78). The ships are outfitted for 6000 m depth operations for such applications as:

  • Cable / pipeline route survey
  • Environmental research
  • Deep-sea minerals research
  • Oil & gas exploration
  • Multi-discipline scientific research
  • Search and survey of submerged vessels

Extensive facilities:

  • Laboratories and workshops
  • Ample deck space for customer equipment
  • Deployment systems and cables for 6000 m depth
  • Sauna, gymnasium, air conditioning
  • Private dining and laundry facilities
  • Spacious accommodations for up to 35 customers

CGGE International provides ships and technical personnel for offshore survey and technical operations. Click on the links below for details on vessel and deck layouts.

Survey Systems

CGGE
Survey Systems

Vessels are equipped with state-of-the-art navigation, communications, and deployment systems (winches, cables, wire ropes, A-frames, J-frames, davits and cranes) for deep sea operations. In addition, the shipowners maintain an inventory of other research systems and instrumentation which can readily be mobilized to any ship for specific applications.

  • Seafloor Mapping (side scan, sub-bottom, multi-beam bathymetry)
  • Seismic Survey
  • ROV and Photographic Survey
  • Coring, Sampling and Dredging
  • Integrated Navigation
  • Oceanographic Instrumentation
  • Magnetometer and Gravimetry Systems
  • Search and Survey of Submerged Vessels

Detailed specifications for all equipment and survey instrumentation are available upon request.

Instrumentations

Vessel charters include deployment equipment (winches, cables, wire ropes, A-frames, J-frames, davits and cranes) for deep sea operations. State-of-the-art navigation, communications, and survey systems are also available. The shipowners are research organizations specializing in ocean exploration since 1949. The following is a sample listing of the equipment typically available. The actual suite of equipment varies from ship to ship, but systems can be easily transferred to meet specific needs. Technical specifications are available upon request, as well as references from our customers. Pre-survey technical consultation is provided, as well as senior operations and maintenance personnel for at-sea operations.

Operations and References

Technical Operations

Whether it is a cable route survey across the Pacific or the search of a sunken vessel in the mid-Atlantic, we can handle it. Each ship is operated by a highly experienced crew specializing in deep ocean operations and subsea research. The technical team can be customized to meet specific customer requirements. For example, a crew configured for geotechnical operations might include technicians, engineers, scientists and ship's crew that have specific experience in all aspects of geotechnical marine operations. In such a case, the project manager provided by CGGE International would have a PhD in geology or equivalent experience. The majority of our technical staff are long-term employees with many years of experience in commercial and scientific contracts.

Our people pride themselves in providing maximum efficiency and contract results for the customer.
