Electric Instrumentation Winches
The ECO winches’ efficient and compact designs enable more sophisticated research from small vessels operating in estuaries, coastal oceans, and large lakes and reservoirs. They can support a wide range of sampling applications including profiling CTDs and water samplers, small towed vehicles, side scan sonars, bottom grab sampling, plankton net towing, etc.
The ECO Winch family includes 1 or 2 HP ECO-ELW winches, a 3 HP ECO Magnum, and a 7.5 HP ECO OceanPro. The ECO Magnum and OceanPro models have alternate drum size and levelwind fairlead configuration options (sheaves, guide shoes or rollers) to suit a wide range of ropes, cables or umbilicals. The 7.5 HP OceanPro can alternatively be configured with a 3 or 5 HP motor. An optional derrick, turntable, pedestal and ECO Sheave can be combined with the 1 or 2 HP ECO-ELW, to create a simple, manually operated instrument handling system.
The electrical system in common with every ECO winch includes regenerative load braking, computer controlled, high-precision acme screw levelwind, non-contacting drum rotation and levelwind position sensors, and accurate cable payout and line speed display. ECO winches provide excellent speed control and real time cable awareness, allowing precise control of underwater sampling equipment and safe deck operations. Available options include oceanographic quality slip rings, a wireless remote control and a dual speed range option that adds application versatility.
