Instrument Mooring Cage
TThe SOSI Model IMC-8824-5 Instrument Mooring Cage is a structural steel enclosure designed to provide cost effective protection for instruments deployed in sub-surface moorings. The standard galvanized steel construction provides a 5,000 lb. through-frame safe working load rating and assures that the instrument held within the frame sees no mooring or deployment loads. The streamlined cage design allows fishing lines, etc. to slip over the cage preventing damage to the instrument and cutting or dragging the mooring. It is corrosion resistant and compatible with standard galvanized mooring hardware.
Custom built to order, these mooring cages can be provided with a wide variety of internal clamps to suit various instrument diameters and customer requirements. This proven, field tested device is designed to keep a secure grasp of your instrument. The simple open frame design allows easy access, removal or swap out of instruments by simply changing the removable clamping blocks. The minimal thermal mass of the frame also permits accurate moored or profiled water temperature measurements and the light weight design minimizes flotation and mooring line strength requirements.
