The SOSI EDL Data Logger is a highly versatile data logging / control unit found at the heart of many SOSI's ocean observation and environmental data logging products. Our loggers are field tested and proven to be reliable and accurate control units for oceanographic research and other data collection equipment. The SOSI series include a real-time clock to allow the programming of events based on clock and calendar including entering/exiting low-power sleep mode. The EDL comes loaded with numerous serial, analog, digital and power interfaces that control all host oceanographic and meteorological sensors, transmitters and ancillary equipment.

High-resolution analog channels on the SOSI EDL allow the capture and digital storage of a variety of signals. Mid-resolution analog channels allow data from sensors with limited ranges to be captured with high resolution and then truncated to suit the specific sensor requirement. The digital serial data inputs are available for any device that has a built-in serial interface. Spare digital and analog channels provide additional flexibility and accommodation for upgrades and extra sensors.

EDL-880 software allows for sample data rates and intervals to suit most applications. Using a proven library of sensor interfaces and commands, the software can be easily customized to any mission. SOSI firmware provides a complete suite of confidence tests that can be used to verify correct operation. A compact flash memory card is used for long-term data storage.
