Data Logger and Controller

The Sound Ocean SOSI Trident Data Logger was designed for high-reliability applications requiring secure data acquisition and input control of multiple sensors and telemetry formats. The units rugged black anodized aluminum case (6.3 in. L x 6.3 in. W x 2 in. H) was designed to insure continuous operation in extreme conditions over extended mission durations. It includes a removable belly plate for mounting in tight areas as well as optional flange endcaps for easy horizontal or vertical mounting.

The Trident intelligently minimizes power consumption, including entering/exiting low-power sleep mode. A real-time clock provides the time base and calendar for programming of events (e.g. instrument polling, data transmissions, etc.). A power indicator LED is included and extinguishes during sleep mode. The unit draws less than one microamp while in sleep mode and draws 2 Watts (maximum) during telemetry transmit. A voltage monitor prevents improper program execution that might be caused by marginal supply voltages. A 5 V and switched V+ are brought out to power small peripheral equipment.

Included for connectivity are: 8 independent and isolated digital output channels, 8 protected analog input channels, 4 protected digital inputs, 4 RS-232 user serial ports, 1 maintenance RS-232 serial port and a 4-channel Opto rack interface (directly interfaces to PB4H I/O rack with simple ribbon cable). There are separate terminal pairs for each I/O signal.
