SOSI’s Ocean Observation &
Data Collection Systems include a variety of standard and custom configured
products such as single sensor and integrated oceanographic & meteorological
buoys, moorings,
and
seafloor platforms. Configured to meet specific customer or project
requirements, these products can be acquired for short or long term deployments
where they may be left to operate unattended for extended periods of time. They
are designed to gather and store data as well as transmit the data, or statistic
samples of the data, via satellite or other means back to the customer base.
Many of these products can also be configured for fixed and fresh water
installations where remote sensing and data acquisition are required. SOSI data
buoy, bottom platform, and other environmental data products have a proven track
record for effectiveness and dependability in harsh marine environments.
Data Buoys
SOSI integrated data buoy systems
consist of instrumented surface buoys and mooring assemblies. The system
components are ruggedly constructed to meet the demanding requirements of
deployment, operation, and recovery in hostile ocean, seafloor and other marine
environments. Most can be configured with Iridium or Argos satellite telemetry. Only materials that have been proven to be compatible with these
environments and meet SOSI’s rigorous standards are used. The buoys can support
an array of both surface and subsurface sensors or they can be designed around a
single sensor such as the seawater surface temperature buoys. The mooring
assemblies can be configured for shallow or deep-water applications and are
generally supplied complete with anchor, elastic mooring array and all other
components required for deployment. They are custom designed to meet specific
application requirements such as water depth and anticipated Sea State
conditions, etc. Configurations for fixed installations such as on piers or
pilings can be provided. SOSI environmental data logging products are also
ideally suited for fresh water applications such as streams, rivers, estuaries,
ponds and lakes.

Ocean
Data Buoy, Std. Model 2M-5000
The
SOSI Model ODB-2M-5000 oceanographic data buoy is designed open water
and coastal installations. The buoy body is fabricated of lightweight
multi-density foam with a thick polyurethane skin that can receive sharp and
repeated impacts without damage. |

Ocean
Data Buoy, Std. Model 48-1500
The SOSI Model ODB-48-1500 Oceanographic Data Buoys (ODBs) are provided
in standard or customized configurations with a variety of meteorological and
oceanographic sensors. The hulls are constructed of fiberglass and
polyurethane foam with an internal stainless steel frame. Can be fitted
with Iridium or Argos satellite telemetry. |

Single Sensor Buoy, SST
Buoy
The SOSI Model SST-001 Sea Surface Temperature (SST) buoys are single sensor
oceanographic data buoys typically provided complete with mooring line, anchor
and mooring hardware. They are capable of measuring and recording highly
accurate temperature data for periods in excess of twenty-four months. The buoy
hulls are constructed of fiberglass and filled with buoyant polyurethane foam.
They can be fitted with Iridium or Argos satellite telemetry. |
Bottom
Platforms
SOSI seafloor data platforms are
designed to operate autonomously, or to be part of an integrated system. Similar
to the buoys and moorings, these platforms can be supplied with a wide variety
of sensors and battery packs to meet specific mission requirements. One unique
feature of the SOSI bottom platform design allows the easy removal and
replacement of the complete sensor assembly while leaving the anchor base on the
seafloor. While the platform can also be recovered as a unit, this feature
allows the investigator to obtain long-term data measurements in exactly the
same location and orientation year after year. SOSI bottom platforms can be
provided in “trawl resistant” configurations where required.

Ocean. Data
Platform, Model ODP-267-100-001
The
SOSI Model ODP-276-100-001 Oceanographic Data Platform (ODP) is a
multi-sensor seafloor device designed to provide long-term sea water temperature
and conductivity measurements as well as current profiles of the overlaying
water column and directional wave spectra.

Data Loggers
|
 |
Environmental Data Logger, Model EDL-880
The SOSI Model EDL-880 Environmental Data Logger is a highly versatile
and inherently flexible data logging and control unit. Provided with numerous
serial, analog, digital and power interfaces, the EDL-880 can be used to control
a multitude of oceanographic and meteorological sensors, transmitters and
ancillary equipment.

Underwater
Video Recorders
|

|
Underwater Video Recorder, Model UVR-6000
The
SOSI Model UVR-6000 UNDERWATER VIDEO RECORDER provides up to four and
one half hours of video recording at programmable intervals. It is completely programmable including the ability to
set initial delay times. The Hi-8 mm format recording unit and the
controller are contained within a one atmosphere, anodized aluminum,
instrument housing, rated to 6000 meter depth.

Global
Positioning Systems
The SOSI Series 6000 Satellite Differential GPS Receivers and GPS Antenna are
designed for use with deep diving AUVs, buoys or other autonomous systems that
are required to operate at depth but periodically surface to determine position
and reset their navigation system. These receivers are designed to receive GPS
satellite data only while on the surface, but can survive routine submergence to
depths of 6000 meters. Based on a Raymarine GPS engine, they are compatible with
WAAS, EGNOS, and JCAB Differential Correction Systems. Their proven housing,
antenna, and receiver element designs insure reliable operation that you can
depend upon.
