OCEANOGRAPHIC DATA BUOY
Model ODB-2M-5000
|
|
The
SOSI Model ODB-2M-5000 oceanographic data buoy is designed open water
and coastal installations. The buoy body is fabricated of lightweight
multi-density foam with a thick polyurethane skin that can receive sharp
and repeated impacts without damage. The buoy surface can be easily
cleaned when necessary. Integral steel structural frame pieces yield
added strength to the hull and provide secure mounting points for the
tower, bridle and subsurface instrument masts. The octagonal shape can
include integral recessions for subsurface instrument masts. The shape
makes it stable on its side (while on-deck), and has sharp chines for
good motion damping.. The buoy is designed to accommodate a variety of
payload requirements. The aluminum upper tower, lower bridle and
optional sub-surface sensor masts allow for strength and a great variety
of sensor suites specific to your needs
The buoy is constructed with an internal watertight well, designed to
house a battery pack and optional charging system. It also serves as the
base for a separate watertight electronics housing. The housing contains
the data logger controller assembly and can hold a variety of sensors,
see a partial list below. The housing is built with bulkhead connectors
and a data port for easy removal, computer access and maintenance. SOSI
can provide full engineering service to integrate your specific
measurement needs in your specific environment. Standard and custom
housings, control software and data formats are available.
