Announcing IO Generator Buoy Contract

ound Ocean Systems, Inc (SOSI) of Redmond, Washington is proud to announce they have been awarded a new contract with Input-Output of Houston Texas. This new contract is for 10 Generator Power Buoys to be used as power sources for I/O 4D seismic survey system. The awarding of this contract comes on SOSI’s successful completion of two previous production orders for 21 of the Generator Power Buoys. The Generator Power Buoy provides up to 90 hours of run time at 24 volts and 80-100 amps. SOSI’s first involvement in these buoys began as a single prototype in 2005.

SOSI’s unique design features diesel generators housed in water tight self contained buoys. The submersible generator units are supplied complete with hull, fenders, ballast, batteries, fuel tank, diesel engine, alternator, cooling system, ventilation system, controller, and software. As the power module is completely underwater during operation, each unit is supplied with snorkels for combustion air and ventilation.

Numerous developments have taken place at SOSI to facilitate the fabrication, handling, and submerged testing of assembled diesel generators. SOSI has evolved as a supplier of submerged power sources to where we now offer a turn-key system thoroughly tested and ready for open ocean use.
