Core Drills
GBU Models 6/4000, 1/4000-2 and .07/4000
Sound Ocean Systems, Inc. is the exclusive reseller of Sevmorgeo products in North, South and Central Americas as well as Japan. Sevmorgeo (The Federal State Unitarian Research and Production Company for Geological Sea Survey) specializes in remote sensing services and equipment for geophysical exploration. It was founded by the USSR Ministry of Geology and is under the authority of the Federal Agency for Resources Management in Russia and is located in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Sevmorgeo product line includes seafloor Core Drills, Cone Penetrometers, and sediment Grab Samplers.
Sevmorgeo's equipment is used world wide for geophysical exploration. Their Deep-Sea Core Drills come in three configurations (GBU-6/4000, GBU-1/4000-2, GBU-0.7/4000) and a Vibratory Corer "Dip-Ocean." These systems are intended for the rotary drilling of rocks (drillability class 4 to 11) with drilling depths up to 6 meters. Core drills are designed to operate in water depths ranging from 10 to 4000 meters. The drill mechanisms are electro-hydraulic. The rigs are equipped with real-time video systems—that use a dedicated coaxial cable in the umbilical and underwater slip ring assembly. Acoustic and video systems support bottom classification work and aid in sample selection. The diameter of the core samples is up to 93 mm. Power is supplied to the drills from the support ship through a multi-conductor tether cable.

GBU-1/4000-2
The Sevmorgeo GBU-1/4000-2 drilling rig was designed to excavate cobalt manganese crust trips in the Pacific Ocean. The GBU-1/4000-2 has dug more than 150 cobalt manganese crust boreholes in the last five years. This work allows for the investigation of polymetallic ore resource potential in the western part of the Pacific Ocean.

Vibratory Corer “DIP-Ocean
The Vibratory Corer is an effective tool for coring in coarse grained or highly compacted sediments. Simple gravity cores such as the box and kasten core are unable to penetrate this coarse sediment and collect shorter cores compared to the vibracore. The longer cores collected with the vibracore allow for ground truthing of the stratigraphic record as imaged by the various low frequency seismic systems. The system is primarily intended for collecting undisturbed core samples of silt, sand and polymetallic sulfides. It's maximum core length is 4.3 meters.
SOSI resells the full Sevmorgeo equipment line. Systems are available in a variety of configurations and are custom ordered to meet your requirements. For additional information on Sevmorgeo, you may visit their website at www.Sevmorgeo.com.
